Environment
Taking care of our surroundings, of which we are a part, is among the teachings of our grandparents, that through Essentia, we try to carry on.
Aside from it being a teaching to carry on, it is also an objective to pursue. So, every day, with our own strength, we try to make our Agrotourism an outpost for defending the environment and enhancing the territory.
The small and large steps which we have taken from the very beginning of our activity have now permitted us to have:
- a short supply chain, indeed very short: the raw materials such as wheat, chickpeas, tomatoes, vegetables, olives, etc., are all grown in our fields “beyond the hedge”, practically at 0 km. The quantities produced are limited so as to be handled with the utmost care. Their transformation always takes place in our Molise, in highly specialized artisan workshops. For other raw materials that are not directly available, we use local producers who guarantee us genuine and high quality products. Furthermore, when possible, through our tours (especially on e-bikes), we demonstrate all the steps that our products go through from the garden to the table.
- a closed waste cycle. There are containers on the facility for the door-to-door separate collection of waste to be recycled, while organic waste becomes compost
- a conscious use of water: the irrigation of our fields and our plants is not carried out with drinking water
- a column for charging electric cars, installed in 2021, will soon be implemented with quick charging and a solar parking lot
Also in the near future we will be organizing events aimed at the divulgation of information relating to environmental issues, especially with meetings suited for families and our younger guests (for more information on these events, updates will soon be posted in the specific section). There will also be days dedicated to the cleaning and reclaiming of the surrounding area (to rectify some of the more uncivilized behavior).
Economic and social
All of these actions and our overall way of working, have not only an environmental impact, but also a social and economic one.
More and more often we hear people speaking of Responsible and Sustainable Tourism, that is, a tourism that, on one hand, takes into consideration the ethical impact on the local population and on its economic and social development, and on the other, its environmental impact.
Our idea of a slow tourism which is integrated with the territory is exactly in line with these principles and is expressed in the promotion of the territory and in the collaboration with our local communities to stimulate their growth and development. We carry this out with our own strength and with actions that may seem small, but it is exactly the small drops that, with their perseverance, nourish a plant.
As mentioned, we use local producers and suppliers and we take every opportunity to work with farms, professionals and collaborators on the territory.
We offer a slow tourism, inviting and often guiding our guests on foot or with e-bike tours through the discovery of the immediate hinterland of Molise (which suffers most from depopulation), its villages and its sometimes millennial traditions.
As always, our desire is to be able to do always better and always more, in the hope of being able to be, together with many other small drops, nourishment for the sprouts of beauty and life that we can see on our territory.
